A password change is the cheapest security fix on Roblox, and the right response to a long list of situations: you reused the password on another site, a service you use announced a breach, you typed it on a page that felt wrong afterward, or someone watched you log in. This guide covers the change itself on web and mobile, the reset path when you cannot log in at all, and the follow-up steps that most people skip.
One framing note first. If you think someone else is already inside the account, right now, do not start here. This guide is for the calmer case: you have access, and you want a new password.
Change your password on the website
- Log in at roblox.com and select the gear icon in the upper-right corner, then Settings.
- Open the Account Info tab.
- Select the Change Password button, the small pencil-and-paper icon next to the password field.
- Enter your current password, then the new password twice to confirm.
- Save, and the change takes effect immediately.
Change it in the mobile app
The path is the same idea with a different starting point:
- Tap the three-dots More icon, then Settings.
- Open Account Info.
- Tap Change Password, enter the current password, then the new one twice.
Whichever device you use, the rules for the new password are the same: long, not guessable from your profile (no username, birthday, or favorite game), and above all not used anywhere else. Reused passwords are how most Roblox accounts fall, because a leak on some unrelated site gets tried against Roblox next. A password manager solves this without memory work. After the change: sign out everywhere
A new password stops future logins, but it is worth clearing out present ones too. In Settings, under the Security section, use the option to sign out of all other sessions. That ends every session on every other device, so if anyone else had the account open, on a school computer or a shared tablet, they are out now and would need the new password to return. Make this a reflex: every password change ends with a sign-out-everywhere.
If you cannot log in
When the old password is forgotten, use the official reset, and only the official one, reached from the Roblox login page:
- Select Forgot Password or Username? on the login page. A page titled "Recover your Roblox Account" opens.
- By email: enter the email address exactly as it appears on the account (a missing dot makes it a different address), submit, and check the inbox for the reset message. If it does not arrive within a few minutes, check spam and junk folders. The link opens a page to set the new password; if several accounts share that email, pick the right one first.
- By phone: if the account has a phone number instead, switch to the Phone tab, select your country code, enter the number, and type the 6-digit code that arrives by text to reach the same reset page.
If the account has neither a verified email nor a phone number, the reset feature cannot help, and the remaining path is Roblox Customer Support, where you will need to prove ownership with details like past receipts and the account's creation date. Turn on 2-Step Verification while you are in Settings
A fresh password is one lock. Two-step verification is the second, and it is the one that holds when the password leaks anyway, because a login then also needs a code from your authenticator app or inbox. You are already in Settings; the Security section is one tab away. Where stolen passwords actually come from
Most Roblox passwords are not cracked, they are handed over. The usual trap is a site or in-game message promising free Robux, a rare item, or a "reward" that just needs your login to deliver. Every one of these is a scam, without exception; there is no site that generates Robux, and why free Robux is always a scam explains the mechanics.
