Wanting to give a friend some Robux is a normal thing to want. Maybe they helped build something, maybe it is a birthday, maybe they are just short on a gamepass they have wanted for weeks. Roblox Plus subscribers can now send Robux directly; for everyone else, the other routes below are workarounds of some kind. Understanding how the real ones work also makes the fake ones obvious.
Correction, October 6, 2026: earlier versions of this guide said Roblox has no way to send Robux directly to another account, and called any claim otherwise a scam. That was wrong. Since Roblox Plus launched in 2026, subscribers can send Robux straight to another user, and Roblox documents the feature in its help centre. The section below now describes it, along with Roblox's Request Robux links, and the scam warning sticks to what Roblox actually says.
Sending Robux directly with Roblox Plus
Roblox Plus subscribers can send Robux straight from their balance to another user, from the recipient's profile or the Buy Robux page, with no platform fee. Only the sender needs Plus. Both sides have to pass Roblox's age requirements, the standard limit is 500 Robux a day and 1,000 a month, and a transfer cannot be reversed once it is sent. In the U.S. there is also a Request Robux link, available to select users on a computer or the web: an account holder aged 18 or over shares a link from the Buy Robux page, and an adult in the U.S. buys a Robux package straight into that account. Those purchases are final sale.
What has not changed is the warning. If someone says they can move Robux out of your balance for you, or asks you to send Robux to "verify" your account, it is a scam: Roblox says it will never ask you to send Robux to another user for any reason.
Gift cards and subscriptions
The cleanest way to give Robux value is a Roblox gift card. You buy the card (digital or physical) and hand the code to the person you want to give it to. They redeem it on their own account at roblox.com, and the credit becomes theirs to spend on Robux or items. Nothing leaves your account balance, no fee eats into it, and the recipient gets the full face value of the card. For a straightforward gift, this is the option to reach for first.
Gifting a subscription works similarly, with one caveat: Roblox Premium closed to new signups on April 30, 2026, so a subscription gift now means Roblox Plus or one of the Plus Bundles rather than the old stipend plan. Plus gives the recipient a discount on in-experience and avatar purchases plus unlimited trading, and the bundles add a monthly Robux allocation on top - either way it is an ongoing benefit rather than a one-time top-up. The gamepass method (and its 30% fee)
The most common community workaround is the gamepass method. Your friend (or a group they help run) creates an inexpensive gamepass on one of their experiences. You buy that gamepass with your Robux. Roblox then pays the proceeds to the creator, which puts Robux in their account.
The catch is the marketplace fee. Roblox takes a cut of marketplace sales — commonly around 30 percent — before the seller is paid. That means this route is lossy, not one-to-one: if you spend a given amount on the gamepass, your friend nets noticeably less than that after the fee. There is also a holding period before pending Robux become spendable, so the transfer is not instant.
Group payouts
If you own or help administer a Roblox group that holds funds, group payouts are another legitimate path. A group with Robux in its account can distribute Robux to members, provided those members have payout permission and the group meets Roblox's payout requirements. This is how many development teams pay contributors and how some communities reward active members.
Payouts are subject to the same kind of marketplace economics as the gamepass route, since the group's funds usually came from sales that were already taxed. The advantage is control: an admin can decide who receives what and when, which makes payouts better suited to ongoing arrangements than to a quick one-off gift between two friends.
Gifting items and Limiteds
Robux is not the only thing you can pass along. If both accounts can trade - a legacy Premium membership or Roblox Plus gives unlimited trades, and for a limited time U.S. accounts get two free trades a month without either - you can use Roblox's trade system to give a Limited item to someone else. A trade can be lopsided on purpose — you offer a Limited and ask for little or nothing in return — which effectively gifts the item, though Roblox applies its usual trade rules and any associated fees. Inside individual experiences, some games include their own trading or gifting features for in-game items. Those live entirely within that game and follow whatever rules the developer set, so they vary widely. They are still safe as long as the trade happens inside the game on Roblox and you are not asked to go somewhere else to "finalize" it.
Avoid the fake gifting scams
Fake gifting offers borrow the language of the real features. Treat all of the following as scams: "Robux gifting" sites, Robux generators, anyone promising to gift you Robux if you log in through their link, anyone who asks you to send Robux first, and any offer that asks for your password or your two-factor code. Two honest reminders to close on. Free-Robux generators do not work and exist only to steal accounts or push surveys. And buying or selling Roblox accounts violates Roblox's rules, so an account is never a safe thing to gift or accept. Stick to Plus transfers, Request Robux links, gift cards, gamepasses, group payouts and trades, keep every action inside Roblox, and the value reaches your friend without putting either of you at risk.
