When someone is rude, breaks the rules, or makes you uncomfortable on Roblox, you have two tools that cover nearly every situation. Blocking ends the contact for you immediately. Reporting tells Roblox's moderation team what happened so they can act on the account. They work well together, and neither one puts you in any trouble for using it. Knowing where the buttons live before you need them means you can act calmly in the moment.
How to block a player
Blocking is instant and personal. Once you block someone, they can no longer message you, and you will not see their chat. There are two easy ways to do it:
- From a profile: open the player's profile, tap the three dots in the corner, and choose Block User.
- In an experience: open the player list or tap the player's name, then select Block.
You do not need a reason and the other person is not told that you blocked them. If you change your mind, you can manage and unblock people later from your account settings. Blocking is the right first move whenever you simply want the contact to stop right now.
How to report a player
Reporting sends the problem to Roblox's moderation team rather than just hiding it from you. To report from inside an experience, open the menu, find the Report option, choose the player and the category that best fits what happened, and add a short note if there is a box for it. You can also report from a player's profile, and you can report abusive chat or content directly when you see it. Be accurate about what occurred. A clear, honest report is more useful than an exaggerated one.
What reporting actually does
Reporting does not instantly ban the other person, and you will not get a personal play-by-play of the outcome. What it does is feed Roblox's moderation system, where reports are reviewed and patterns add up. An account that several people report for the same behavior draws attention faster. So even when one report seems to vanish into the system, it is contributing to a record that can lead to warnings, suspensions, or bans. Reporting is how the platform learns who is causing harm, which is why it is worth doing even when blocking already solved your immediate problem.
When to use which
A simple way to think about it: block to protect yourself, report to protect everyone.
- Block when you just want a specific person to stop contacting you.
- Report when someone breaks the rules, with scams, harassment, threats, inappropriate content, or attempts to get your password.
- Do both for anything serious. Block to end it now, report so the account is reviewed.
