Limited U stands for Limited Unique. It's an item released in a fixed quantity where each individual copy is stamped with its own serial number — #1, #2, and so on, up to the total minted. Owning a Limited U doesn't just mean you own "one of these"; it means you own a specific numbered one.
A plain Limited is also sold in a finite amount and becomes resell-only once it sells out, but the classic distinction is that a Limited U carries that per-copy serial while a standard Limited historically did not. What the serial number means
The serial is a record of where your copy sits in the mint order.
