How to Change Your Roblox Email (and Why the Account Needs One)

The email address on a Roblox account does one job that nothing else can do: it proves the account is yours when the password is forgotten or stolen. That makes changing it a small task worth doing carefully. This guide covers the official change flow on web and mobile, the add-an-email flow for accounts that never had one, and the recovery setup Roblox provides for players under 13.

One distinction before the steps. If your account already has an email and you want a different one, you are changing it, and Roblox will ask for your password. If the account has no email at all, the same Settings page offers an add flow instead. Both end the same way, with a verification message you must act on.

Change the email on an existing account

1. Log in to your account. If you cannot log in, reset the password first, using the steps in how to change your Roblox password, because the email change requires the current password.
2. Open Settings. In a browser that is the gear icon in the upper-right corner of the site; in the mobile app it is the three-dots More icon.
3. Select the Account Info tab.
4. Select the Update Email button, the small pencil-and-paper icon next to the email field.
5. Enter the new email address, then your current Roblox password.
6. Roblox sends a message to the new address. Open that message and follow its instructions to confirm the change.

Until step 6 happens, the new address is not verified. If the message does not arrive within a few minutes, check the spam and junk folders, and add email_validate@roblox.com to the inbox's contacts before trying again.

Two things happen behind the scenes that are worth knowing. First, the previous email address receives an alert that a change was made, which is a deliberate security feature: if you ever get that alert without having changed anything, treat it as a break-in in progress and go straight to how to recover a hacked Roblox account. Add an email to an account that has none

The path is nearly identical: Settings, then Account Info, then the Add Email button. Roblox sends a verification message to the address you enter; the email counts only once you follow the instructions in it. Accounts in some countries can verify a phone number instead, via Add Phone and a one-time code sent by SMS or WhatsApp, but an email works everywhere and is the one to set up first.

There is no good reason to leave an account email-less. Without a verified email or phone number, the forgot-password flow has nothing to send a reset to, and the only remaining recovery path is Roblox customer support, where you must prove ownership with receipts and account details. Players under 13: the parental recovery email

For under-13 accounts, Roblox supports a parental recovery email. A parent verifies their own address in Settings, then Account Info, on the child's account, which lets the adult help recover it if the password is forgotten. This address can be different from the email the parent uses for their own linked Roblox account, the one that carries parent privileges. After the change: two follow-ups

An email change is a good moment to check the rest of the account's defenses, since you are already in Settings.

• Confirm the new inbox is one you control long-term. School-issued and workplace addresses expire when you leave; an account anchored to a dead inbox is an account you cannot recover. Use a personal address you expect to keep.
